How Green is my home?

Published by jolocol at 12:34 am under American dangers Edit This

Green How green is my house?  We use $17 worth of LP gas every two months.  Showers are navy-style and the toilet uses very little water to flush.  In fact, my family uses only 240 gallons of water a month.  We have two small bags of trash a week.  Truth is, my house is pretty darn green, so why am I going crazy with all the green talk?
Maybe it starts with the knowledge that, when I was very young, scientists were busy scaring us to death with the idea of global cooling.  The earth was expected to turn into one giant ice ball from the way my mind understood it.  Steps were taken to save the planet!  Unfortunately, or fortunately, there was nothing to the scare but the cycles the planet was going through.
Now today, I am to be frightened because the earth is undergoing global warming.  Everything I do is suspect of creating too much heat on the planet.  Carbon footprints are being touted and the government is taking over control of whatever they can to save the planet!  Fortunately, it doesn’t need to be saved.
I highly suspect that, when I am an old woman, school children will be scared to death by the idea of, you’ve got it, global cooling.
I do think we need to conserve our resources, avoid polluting our waters and air, and keep our trash at a minimum.  I do it because I want to enjoy the area I live in.  I refuse to be frightened into behaviors by the ideas of others.  I keep my house clean.  I keep my spot on the world clean.  If I do my part, the green will just come!
