Life is relative-Punxsutawney Phil
Monday morning my students showed up at school wearing various shades of brown. It was a small way of making them aware of Punxsutawney Phil and our kick off to Spirit Week. Of course, since Phil was the star of the day, it was important to discover his prediction. As usual, the little guy was rousted from his bed to predict six more weeks of winter. Yes, he saw his shadow!
Now, this prediction is not a good one for many parts of the country. Some are still freezing as the weatherman gives a report of more snow today. More snow is not a welcome thing right now if you live in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan and more. However, life is relative. I welcome little Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction with delight!
I’m not a sadist. I live in a very warm part of the country. Winter in Arizona is the most beautiful time of the year. When the sun sets, coats and heaters come on in many homes. Occasionally in mine. I lived in the mid-West for most of my life. The winter snow storms begin in October and continue into April. I even saw snow in Wyoming in June. Now, if I want to see snow, I have to travel. Six more weeks of heavenly weather is what Punxsutawney Phil has predicted for those living here. Thank you Phil, for the same prediction that made me cringe only three years ago!
